Community Events June 2017 – Children’s Summer Activities


SUMMER BOOKMOBILE Schedule starts May 30th. The Mobile Public Library’s Bookmobile will visit every Tuesday through July 25th, except the 4th. May 30th will focus on events and opportunities for seniors to explore programs at the Mobile Public Libraries.

June 9th is our special RED HAT LUNCH, call to reserve your seat by May 19th. Call Diana at 865-4010.

June 15th 9:30-1:30. HEALTH FAIR open to the public, activities and topics for all ages. Eye Screenings, Door Prizes, Give-A-Ways, and much more. Valuable information and services available.

June 22nd 11am. Jonathon Greary of the MOBILE COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT will discuss topics on Senior Safety. Topics include the Yellow Dot program, Fraud Prevention, and more.

June 26th 1:00pm. FOOD HANDLER’S COURSE offered by the Mobile County Health Department. Participants must be on time and bring $15 cash. Please try to bring exact change, no checks please.

The SENIOR NUTRITION & ACTIVITY PROGRAM offers lunch to those age 60 and up for a modest donation. Meals are served daily at 11:30 participants must be signed up by 10:30 to reserve their meal all others are served based on availability of a meal. Guest and visitors may purchase a meal for $3 if extra meals area available. New participants must fill out registration forms. Please ask for Diana when visiting the center. Activities and events are scheduled daily from 9am-1pm Monday-Friday. Bingo at 1pm Mon, Tues, & Thurs, please bring a prize to donate.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED AT SENIOR CENTER: Arts & Crafts instructors, Exercise Leaders, Game Hosts, and Topics of Interest or Demonstrators needed. Share your knowledge and skills, while building or renewing friendships. Will pay for Kitchen help food handler’s card. See or Call Diana at 865-4010 to find out other ways to volunteer.

AA MEETINGS – Need help? Come visit and share Monday nights 7 pm at the Grand Bay Community Center, 11610 US Highway 90, Grand Bay, AL 36541.

G.E.D CLASSES Tuesday & Thursday 1-3pm at the Grand Bay Community Center. Call 251-300-6170

RENT THE GRAND BAY COMMUNITY CENTER FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT – Ask about SUNDAY RENTAL SPECIALS. We have good rates and we are a local venue. No fighting traffic after your event. We have lots of extras to offer including, event tent, specialty lighting packages, a bridal room and prior evening decorating. Call Kelli at (251) 644-2080 for information. Event rentals help pay for Community Projects.

June 6: Community Paint Night 5:30-7:30. $7/1 & $12/2 (NO FOOD PASS). $9/1 & $15/2 (W/FOOD).

June 9: Parents Night Out 6pm- 10pm $8/1 child or $12/2 children, includes dinner & drink.

June 13: Pirate Day & Book Mobile 10am-12pm. Dress up as pirate/scallywag & design a treasure box,  scavenger hunt to follow. Lunch will be served $1 donation.

June 20: Critter Day w/Mr. Rick & Book Mobile. Create a critter for show & tell.  Lunch will be served. $1 donation

June 27: Watermelon Carving Contest & Book Mobile. $3/entry. Bring already carved. We will be serving lunch. $1 donation.

July 6: Ft. Gaines & Dauphin Island Estuarium Tours/Picnic Reg. starts at 8am, return 2 pm. $10/person 4 & over.

July 7: Parents Night Out 6pm- 10pm $8/1 child or $12/2 children, includes dinner & drink.

July 10: Bear’s 114th Birthday Bash 10am- 12pm. Pre-registration will be available & is

   strongly suggested to make sure we do NOT run out of supplies.

July 13: Environmental Studies Center & Medal of Honor Park. Registration 8:30. Leave 9 am. Load bus for return 1:30. $3/person over 2. Under 2 FREE.

July 21: WALES WEST RAILROAD SUMMER BASH (we booked in APRIL so it is happening this year!!) Registration 8am. Leave 8:30. Load bus for return 2pm. PLEASE    PRE-REGISTER. Price TBD
